There are so many versions of this song...too many really...and after listening to several I still haven't found my favorite. I think many of the instrumental versions get the music right....the haunting beat of it. Now if only a bass singer would stick to that music then you'd probably have my favorite. It's a good song and story nonetheless.
Ghost Riders in the Sky
written by Stan Jones
"Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry"

Take my hand
Love how the song flows
Mother Mary
by The Foxboro Hottubs
"Take a ride on the midnight train
We'll fall asleep at the station
Too much wine, driving me insane
And then we'll miss our destination"

Shake It Out
by Florence and the Machine
"And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around"

One of those Songs
You know those songs you are obsessed with for a while until slowly they drift to the background? Then you hear them again and it brings back everything you love about them? Well this is one of those songs for me. (note...know it's a rolling stones tune but I like this version...dare I say better?)
Wild Horses
by The Sundays
"I know I've dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day"

Saturday shopping
While we didn't go to a supermarket...we did visit a lot of stores.
Lost in the Supermarket
by The Clash
"I'm all lost in the supermarket
I can no longer shop happily
I came in here for the special offer
Guaranteed personality"

Movie night
Just because we watched a couple martial art movies....and because Dan hates the song...
Kung Fu Fighting
by Carl Douglas
"Everybody was Kung Fu fighting, those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright'ning, but they fought with expert timing"

Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams, whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me"

I Want This
This song strikes a chord in me.
More Than Life
by Whitley
"To touch something real,
Will help your wounds heal,
Like the sun on your face,
The dreams of starry nights."

dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak"

Jump in the Line
by Harry Belafonte
"My girl's name is Senora
I tell you friends, I adore her
And when she dances, oh brother!
She's a hurricane in all kinds of weather
(jump in de line, rock your body in time)
Ok I believe you"

Pandora hit
This popped up on pandora today and I knew I had heard it before....just not often. Anyway, I like it and it has some truth to it for me.
Believe
by The Bravery
"So give me something to believe
Cause I am living just to breathe
And I need something more
To keep on breathing for
So give me something to believe"

On the Drive
Heard it on the way to work and it was in my head most of the day!
Ball and Chain
by Social Distortion
"Take away, take away
Take away this ball and chain
Well I'm sick and I'm tired
And I can't take any more pain
Take away, take away
Never to return again
Take away, take away
Take away
Take away this ball and chain."

Church Song
So Wednesday is always hymn singing day at work and I've...over the years...learned quite a few. While I'm not very, if at all, religious I do very much enjoy one hymn in particular. Maybe because it was on an episode of 'Doctor Who'....
The Old Rugged Cross
"So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
'til my trophies at last I lay down"

Moon song
One of the songs I've learned thoroughly working where I do...well I suppose I can only take credit for knowing the chorus...but still I've always found it pretty in an old-fashioned kind of way.
By The Light Of The Silvery Moon
Lyrics by Edward Madden
"By the light of the silvery moon
I want to spoon...to my honey
I'll croon love's tune
Honey moon, keep a-shining in June
Your silvery beams will bring love's dreams
We'll be cuddling soon
by the silvery moon."

Bus Trip Tunes
Heard this a couple times on today's bus trip. So catchy!
Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree
by The Andrews Sisters
"Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me,
Anyone else but me, anyone else but me, NO NO NO!
Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me
Till I come marching home."

Sunday
A nice, relaxing day doing not a whole lot that was productive...aaah. To be fair I did clean a little, make scones, go grocery shopping, and turn the dishwasher on! And here's today's song...courtesy of an episode of Psych.
Hungry Like the Wolf
by Duran Duran
"In touch with the ground
I'm on the hunt, I'm after you.
Smell like I sound, I'm lost in a crowd
and I'm hungry like the wolf."

Heartbeats
The song of the day for yesterday (I was too tired to post) is:
Heartbeats
by The Knife
"To call for hands of above to lean on
wouldn't be good enough for me, no"
While I think I like the Jose Gonzalez version better, The Knife's version is growing on me.

Song of the day!
A new direction...let's see if I can post a song for every day of the year.
Today's Song:
City
by Sara Bareilles
"In these deep city lights
Girl could get lost tonight
I'm finding every reason to be gone
There's nothing here to hold on to
Could I hold on to you?"
